THE SECOND round of preliminary tripartite talks between the government of India, government of Manipur and a group of Kangleipak Communists Party scheduled on December 12 has been postponed, a highly reliable official source said today.
A high level meeting of the police chiefs of the north eastern states and Central paramilitary forces deploying in the region scheduled to held at Guwahati on the issues related with terrorism under the initiative of Union ministry of home affairs has also been postponed.
With the postponement of the said talks and meeting state DGP who was scheduled to leave Imphal today by handing over his charge to the additional DGP (intelligence), A Romenkumar has also suspended.
State DGP, Y Joykumar was scheduled to leave Imphal today for Guwahati and his onward journey to New Delhi to attend the tripartite talks with the group of KCP which the first round of preliminary talks held on December 4 last.
A group of KCP (MC) led by one Hitendra alias Lalumba had held the first round trilateral talks with the Government of India represented by the officials of the MHA and Manipur government represented by state chief secretary, Rakesh, principal home secretary DS Poonia and DGP, Joykumar in New Delhi last week.
The preliminary talk which was held an undisclosed place at the national capital ended with no encouraging decision but agreed to meet again for the next rounds of talks within the fortnight.
Another high level meeting scheduled on December 12 in Guwahati which would convene by the joint secretary (NE) Navin Burma and to be attended by the all DGPs and IGPs of the north eastern states and chiefs of the Central forces operating in the region had also been postponed, official source here said.
The meeting called under the initiative of the MHA has been called to discuss on the issues related with the activities of terrorists in the region and to chalk out a common strategy to cope with it, the source said.
