A tourist visiting Manipur cannot visit the numerous tourist spots of the state in a single day, the chief minister declared.
But the present law and order situation in the state does not encourage tourists to visit Manipur, he said, and added that the government has been doing its best to improve the situation.
An Ecological Park measuring 700/800 acres and a tourist lodge with not less than 100 beds will be opened at Sendra, Ibobi stated, and the road from Moirang bazar to Sendra would be developed into a four-lane road at least 10/15 feet wide with road divider, foot-paths and trees planted on the road-sides.
The floating bio-mass (phumdi) would be cleared from the Loktak lake and hovercrafts would be manned by security forces to patrol the lake to keep it safe from underground elements, he said.
The Chief Minister stated that Loktak lake is a gift of God to the people of Manipur and appealed to the people, especially those living at its surroundings, to take care of it by helping and co-operating with the government to take up various developmental programmes to keep this biggest fresh-water lake in the North-East healthy and attractive.
Mr.T N Haokip, Minister of Tourism, Manipur said in his speech that those who hinder the development of Loktak lake as a tourist spot are number one enemy of the state.
