Commander 26 Sector Assam Rifles Brig Rajeev Pant presented a hand loom to facilitate women members of a Churachandpur district-based Vocsational Training Centre sustain their economic sustenance.
The hand loom had been provided after members of an NGO Widows Welfare Association Asia (WWAA) approached AR authorities to contribute their (AR's) mite towards smooth functioning of the training centre being run by the WWAA.
The NGO with about 2000 members are working for socio-economic betterment of the womenfolk through making of flower, fruit juice, pickles, mushroom cultivation and tailoring activities, informed a PRO IGAR (S) release adding that seeing the genuine cause the Commander handed over the hand loom on June 3 .
the 26 Sector AR had been extending all possible assistance to this organisation in the form of donating some rations, providing medical cover, canteen facility etc, in addition to the Assam Rifles recently donating one solar light with solar panel to one of the widows, it added.
Meanwhile, the 28 AR of 9 Sector under HQs IGAR (S) conducted a medical camp at namching village today during which two medical officers including a lady doctor and dental hygienist catered to the medical requirements of about 260 villagers.
According to a statement issued by PRO IGAR (S), the medical and dental problems of the locals were attended by the team of doctors who worked tirelessly to achieve the goal of 'health for all' as envisaged by the World Health Organisation and adopted by our country in letter and spirit.
A lecture was also given to the local people on prevention of HIV/AIDS as also other common diseases like diarrhoea, respiratory infection and skin infections, the statement said while adding that the people were also told about medical and dental hygiene as a long term measure to maintain good physical health.
