Women vendors at upper marketing shed of Kangpokpi DHQs, the oldest Nute Kailhang (Ema Keithel) in the town organised 'Kumbul Maicham', an annual prayer session at the beginning of the year, to seek God's blessing in their business.
The prayer session, 'Kumbul Maicham' ceremony was attended by Rev K Hangshing, Chairman, Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship as minister.
Kangpokpi Town Committee Vice Chairman, Rev Y Haokip and other members such as Seilam Singsit and Seingul Gangte also attended the function.
The leader of the women vendors, while briefing about the prayer session, said that the women vendors at Kangpokpi upper marketing shed have become emotionally so closed to them that they are now like one family.
We have discussed and decided to sacrifice one business day to offer gratitude to God and also seek his blessing because we are all aware that without God's blessing our small business could not be a success, she added.
Rev K Hangshing, Chairman, KTCF, while appreciating the women vendors, stressed on the important roles of the women vendors in the society, especially in Kangpokpi town stating that people could get fresh vegetables and other goods easily with their hard efforts and struggles.
He continued that the women despite multiple household chores, get up early in the morning to get fresh vegetables and goods for the people and return to serve her family and then went back to their business for the whole day and resume their household activities happily in the afternoon.
"The women vendors are praiseworthy and everyone should respect them and express sincere happiness towards their contribution", Rev K Hangshing said adding that God's will be please and pour down an abundant blessing to each of them as God loves those who work sincerely and bless them abundantly.
He also invoked a blessing prayer after motivating the women vendors to work courageously and sincerely keeping in mind their huge contribution towards society.
Kumbul Maicham feast marked the occasion.
