Imphal, November 22 2013 :
The 24-hour state wide general strike given by the militant outfit Maoist Communist Party of Manipur paralysed normal life in the capital Imphal on Friday.
MCP had called the bandh, which began from last midnight, to protest the reported loss of Manipur's territory due to the Indo-Myanmar Border Fencing.
Vehicles were off the road.
Both the inter-district and inter-state passenger services were hanged up for the day.
However, normal flight services were not affected by the strike.

All the business establishments in the capital remained close.
Educational establishments and financial institutions were also shut down due to the strike.
Government establishments were also paralysed.
Although all the stalls at the Sangai Festival venue were opened during the course of the strike under strict vigilance and tight security arrangement, visitors failed to turn up during the day.
However, a large number of visitors thronged the venue later in the evening.
All the buses arranged by the Tourism Department for transportation of visitors to the venue remained parked at their respective spots for whole day as no passengers were coming out to board them.
No untoward incident was reported during the strike.
