UFO celebrates 24th rising day

Universal Friendship Organisation (UFO) celebrated its 24th rising day at All Manipur Battalion headquarters at Chingnungkhok, Imphal East, today.
Lamlai AC social worker Mongjam Poireihanba, BJP State unit Vision Document and spokesperson RK Ranjan graced the celebration as chief guest and functional president respectively.
Nonggren Chingnungkhok GP Pradhan N Mohari, social worker Sh Purnimashi, Legal Aid Clinic Advocate Kh Kanta, Bar Council vice-chairperson K Rabei and Sangai Express Manipuri Edition Editor Khogendra Khomdram attended the celebration as guests of honour.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Rk Ranjan said, "The UFO plays an important role in reviving the way of life and tactics adopted by our ancestors to defend our lands" .
UFO is such an organisation that is continually working towards the revival of the dying Meitei customs and traditions.
"On its (UFO) rising day, it would be appropriate to remember the dreams and aspirations of its founder president late Rk Manisana", Ranjan said.
Late Rk Manisana dreamt of a united world living and thriving under the blue sky.
She strived for universal peace and friendship in her lifetime.
UFO was built on such dreams of hers.
"I am positive that more people, the younger generations especially, will come forward and join UFO", Ranjan said.
Social worker Poireihanba assured to erect fencing around All Manipur Battalion headquarters before the next rising.
He also proposed installation of a hand pump, construction of latrine and erection of a memorial stone in honour of late Rk Manisana in the headquarters complex.
