State level 'Leiteng Thanghai Changdamnaba' begins

The first State level Leiteng Thanghai Changdamnaba (competition) began today to Lamyanba Shanglen, Konung Mamang today.
The two-day competition is being organised by the United Chongthas under the aegis of Thang-ta Loisang, Sana Konung.
The gathering, led by titular king Leishemba Sanajaoba paid floral tributes to the portrait of Major Chongtha Mia during the inaugural function.
Leishemba Sanajaoba graced the inaugural function as the chief guest, while LMS Law College senior Lecturer Dr Ch Narendra, Thang-Ta Sintakpurel Saikhom Nodia Mangang, Sana Konung Lalloi Hanjaba Okram Manglem Meetei, Government Dance College Principal Ranjit Adhikarimayum and Thang-ta Loisang president Thingbaijam Ibohal attended as functional president and guests of honour respectively.

The competition is divided into four categories.
Altogether, 65 competitors from 17 different Thang-ta associations are taking part in the two-day Leiteng Thanghai Changdamnaba.
The first prize winner of the competition will receive a sum of Rs 5000 and a citation, second position holder will receive a cash reward of Rs 3000 along with a citation while the third position holder will receive Rs 1000 and a citation.
During his speech at the inaugural function titular king Leishemba Sanajaoba lauded United Chongthas and Thang-ta Loisang for organising such an event.
Such event, he said will help in keeping alive the Thang-ta art form.
United Chongthas secretary Chongtham Romen also spoke on the occasion.
