Imphal, January 16 2017:
"Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has failed the State and the people", stated Union Minister of Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar during an interaction with media persons today at BJP Manipur Pradesh office, Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal.
Even though the Centre has provided enough strength of security forces to neutralise the economic blockade imposed by the United Naga Council (UNC) from Nov 1 last year, the State Govt has not taken any adequate steps, he claimed.
There was strict instruction from the High Court that the State Govt should bear the responsibility of clearing the economic blockade, yet the Ibobi led Govt has failed to respond to the instructions.
Javadekar who is also in-charge of Manipur for the upcoming 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election continued that the Centre is providing all possible help to the State Govt to end the two month long economic blockade which has caused untold misery to the entire populace of Manipur.
He said, without explicit permission from the State Govt, the security forces cannot perform their duties and the Ibobi Govt has not yet given the permission.
"Economic blockade continues and the suffering of the public continues because the Chief Minister has failed to act in time.
The people continue to suffer because of his inaction," said Javadekar.
The Chief Minister should be held responsible for all the sufferings which each and every individual of Manipur is going through.
He has failed the State and the people of Manipur, continued Javadekar.
As the Central Govt is keen to end the suffering of the Manipuri people, there was a high level meeting at New Delhi yesterday to discuss the prevailing situation here in the State.
The people of Manipur deserve better than what the Ibobi led Congress Govt is providing.
Earlier the Chief Minister would react swiftly against any comments against him by of the Central leaders.
Unfortunately he has failed to give any reply on this issue as he (Chief Minister) is the main culprit, said Javadekar.
On this issue he is the culprit and people should bring him to justice.
Javadekar asked why the security forces provided by the Centre Govt are kept unused in their barracks.
Chief Minister O Ibobi skillfully created an impression that he wants to do something for the people of Manipur and the Centre is not allowing him trying to fool the innocent people of Manipur.
This impression is completely false as the Centre is doing what it can within the provisions provided by the Constitution of the country.
Such divisive politics of the Congress led State Govt has not only made the people of Manipur hostage of their electoral games, but made the people suffer.
Such politics should end and the security forces should be well utilized, he added.
When asked of what the Centre Govt has done to end the ongoing two month long economic blockade, Javadekar stated that under Constitution of India, the Centre cannot do anything without the explicit permission of the State Govt. When the Centre called on the State Govt for a tripartite talk, they failed to show up.
Such an act from the Ibobi Govt has led to an ugly situation which the people are facing right now, he added.
Further he said that the BJP will woo the voters on issues like development of Manipur, corruption free State, blockade and bandh free State and Congress free Manipur.
He said that BJP will come up with a development model of Manipur very soon.
The media interaction was also attended by Lok Sabha MP Prahladh Singh Patel and president of BJP Manipur Pradesh K Bhabananda.
