Imphal, July 07 2014:
Following an understanding with the State Government, Thadou Students' Association General Headquarters (TSA-Ghqs) has decided to call off their proposed 72-hour bandh on National Highways.
TSA-Ghqs general secretary James Haokip said that the understanding was reached in a meeting with top State police officers led by IG Clay Khongsai, DIG IK Muivah and Imphal West Additional SP K Meghachandra this evening.
The bandh which demanded termination of 7th IRB Commandant Chaoba Lokho from his service was deferred for 24 hours yesterday.
It may be mentioned that six persons including a minor was injured as an escort vehicle of Chaoba Lokho allegedly hit a Maruti Alto car between Koirengei and Khonghampat on June 16 .
The students' body was peeved with the attitude of the Commandant as he allegedly did not even visit the injured persons at hospital after the incident.
TSA-Ghqs submitted a memorandum to Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam and demanded action against Chaoba Lokho.
However, TSA-Ghqs decided to call off its stir as the Government agreed on reimbursement of medical expenses of injured persons and replacement of the damaged car with another car, James added.
The student's body also had already clamped a 24-hour bandh with effect from the morning of June 24 in protest against the incident.
