Campaign for disturbance free educational zone held in Senapati

Perceiving the importance of education for better society and future, Democratic Students Alliance Manipur (DESAM) in collaboration with Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) conducted the campaign for "Disturbance Free Educational Zone" at Senapati DHQ today.
Speaking to media persons, DESAM vice president appealed the public to endorse the campaign towards a disturbance free educational spaces both in the hills and the valley while advocating for educational institutions free from corruption.
Regarding the disturbance at educational institutes by UG outfits, DESAM executives have asserted that they strongly condemn such unlawful and destructive actions.
SDSA president, Kaikho Hopeson also appealed not to disturb educational institutions as they are the temple of learning.
DESAM vice president, N Edison Meetei along with secretary education and academic affairs Sh Devdutta Sharma and members K Robinson, L Premkumar, H Dayananda, H Premchand came to Senapati DHQ for the said campaign.
Flyers and pamphlets were also distributed.
On the other hand, in a press release, DESAM further appealed to stop extortion and illegal demands from schools and teachers.
It stated that the Government must also put a hold on any activity which retards the progress of schools while adding that the tendency of the Government to utilize school teachers for any major works like census operation, election duties including electoral roll revision and other activities must be done away with or at least minimized so that the teachers are free to teach.
The politicking in education for appointment, transfer and posting promotion and utilization of teachers against non teaching position must stop for the education system to improve, added the statement.
The Government must ensure that only agents of good institution are allowed to canvass for students in the State, conveyed the statement.
