Relic of Don Bosco arrives at Imphal

Hundreds of Catholics flocked to venerate Saint John Bosco's relic when it arrived at Imphal Airport on Friday.
The relic arrived in Imphal on a special flight of the Deccan Charter at 3.15 pm.
Airport officials said that the casket containing the relic of Saint John Bosco, popularly known as Don Bosco, was brought from Chennai by the special flight.
Students of different catholic schools with their teachers in their hundreds were among those who converged at Little Flower School, Imphal to venerate the relic.
Catholics from across the state also attended the official veneration function both at Little Flower School and Don Bosco School, Langjing.
After receiving the casket by hundreds of followers of Don Bosco, official reception functions were held at Little Flower School and Don Bosco School Langjing today.
The relic will be taken to Don Bosco Tamenglong tomorrow after an official function to honour the great friend of youth to be held at Don Bosco Chingmeoirong on May 1 .

The relic will be taken to Pangmol, Maram and Mao in Senapati district on May 2, en route to Kohima, Wokha, Mon and Dimapur.
A glass casket containing a life-sized wax statue and a relic of the 19th century saint, a bone from the right hand of the saint contained in the wax image - has arrived in the city as part of a round-the-world Don Bosco Relic Tour', from Chennai on April 22 .
The casket with the relic began its 130-nation pilgrimage from April 25, 2009, from Italy's Valdocco, Turin, in the Basilica of 'Mary Help of Christians'.
The pilgrimage is part of the preparation for the 2015 bicentenary of Don Bosco's birth and also to mark the 150th year of the founding of the Salesian congregation.
The relic will be taken to Salesian institutions in the north-east, including places like, Doomdooma, Tinsukia, Naharkatia, Amguri, Jorhat, Dergaon and Guwahati.
Catholics have been asked to model themselves on the "Teacher of the Young" .
