39 EGS Centres in Tamenglong District under SSA

Tamenglong, May 17 2011:
On the first day technical session of the three day Bharat Nirman Campaign held at Tamenglong Indoor Stadium, a discussion on the topic Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and RTE was held with KC Paul, District Coordinator (DCO) Tamenglong as resource person.
He speaks about the importance of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), which emphasized compulsory education to poor needy children who lived behind region.
He said, the Govt.of India has introduced SSA to 34 backward states of the country with the aims of imparting education to all poor needy children of 6-14 years of ages.
In Tamengong as many as 39 Education Guarantee Scheme Centre under SSA has been set up in village level and Education Volunteers on honorarium basis was appointed to impart quality education to the children.
He also said that various vocational training programme has frequently conducted under SSA in the district, block and village level to impart vital activities to the needy children especially for girls students.
One of the main aims of SSA is to cease sending of our children to other places for imparting of education, he said.
Further he said that, SSA Tamenglong is extending various help to disable persons and special education to young girls.
He said at present the SSA Tamenglong has established Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) at Mandeu village, of Tousem Sub- Division with 80-100 students and 14 teaching and non-teaching staffs which is one of the most importance achievements of its kind.
He said, SSA is based on community participation in all levels and he urged for local involvement and political will for SSA project.
One of the main activities of SSA is collecting data through Management Information System (MIS) from cluster to block and to village level.
KC Paul said that, with the introduction of Right to Education Act-2010, there is a long prospect existence of SSA in our district.
The main objective of the Act is to introduce free and compulsory education to needy children subsequently the SSA/Tml has interpreted the Right to Education Act in four languages viz Rongmei, Liangmei, Zeme and Inpui for complete awareness among the public on education he added.
