Imphal, May 17 2011:
The Anti Defection Law formulated and enacted by the then BJP led NDA government was behind the stability of the SPF government in the state, but the Congress claims that leadership quality was behind the stability, the BJP has criticized.
Secretary (Media Affairs) of the BJP Manipur Pradesh, L Basanta said the SPF government had faced open revolt over the leadership but CM, O Ibobi Singh survived the revolt because of the Anti-Defection Law.
Due to fear of disqualification , Congress MLAs could not defect from the party to join other parties or to form a new party.
There is still an internal crisis within the Congress over the leadership, he asserted.
Alleging that the state Congress leaders are trying to cover up their failures by announcing various new projects, he asked where had the Zero Garbage project gone.
Is the garbage piling up at every nook and corner of the streets the objective of garbage free project of the SPF government.
Apart from this, in the name of taking up developmental works, how long will the people be made to suffer, he went on to ask.
Reminding that the suspension of the IMC for over six months was part of a hidden agenda to siphon off the funds of the projects and schemes under the JNRUM by the SPF government, he said.
They had tried to siphon off ' 1780 crore sanctioned by the Centre under JnRUM but they were foiled by the BJP who had brought up the matter to the notice of the Prime Minister and who intervened to block the release of the funds, Basanta claimed.
Congress has still not left its old idea of buying voters with money.
The idea is now a thing of the past and this had been proved in the bye-election to the Konthoujam A/C, he said.
