Giving importance to Tangkhul songs in the promotion of musical talent as well as for the documentation of the rich cultural identity of the community, Principal Secretary of Works and Transports, Govt of Manipur Ram Muivah yesterday release a collection of Tangkhul songs during a jam-packed function at Rashing Hall, Awungtang here.
Speaking at the occasion of releasing the song book, titled, "The Best of Tangkhul Classics", Ram Muivah observed that land is older than men, and men is older than history and this trend of Tangkhuls handing down their aesthetic values from one generation to another palpable when one listen to the meaningful folk songs.
Life is a song you have to listen, feel and love it, said Ram Muivah in his address as chief guest of the function.
First of its kind, The Best of Tangkhul Classic has a collection of 100 love songs composed by many lyricists of yesteryears, many of whom are now more and the song book has come to see the light of the day because of the efforts of Hakhui Society, which has been formed by a group of people belonging to different walks of life but share a common passion for music.
During the function, a any renown Tangkhul singers also entralled the gathering which include many important personalities like SDO Ukhrul Rajen Vishal, Post Commander of Ukhrul Town Post Capt Sushil Kumar, chief of Hunphun/Ukhrul HA.
