MU professor felicitated

Research Scholars, Department of english, Manipur University today hosted a felicitation programme in honour of prof Thounaojam Ratankumar, who is also the Dean of Students' Welfare.
The event was organised at the Humanities Block conference hall today in appreciation on the inclusion of Prof Ratankumar's seminar paper on 'God in Manipuri Literature' in the syllabus of Texas University, USA.
Speaking at the occasion, Prof Ratankumar conceded that inclusion of his seminar paper, which was presented at a round table conference held at Oxford University (south Texas) from March 28 till April 3 this year, in the American University's syllabus was a pleasant surprise for he had not expected such an acclamation.
During his professional career spanning 31 years, the English Department professor is informed to have penned several literary works in addition to successfully guiding 11 PhD and 18 Research Scholars complete their respective assignments.
Regarding his work on 'god in Manipuri Literature', the professor said the 10-paged article chronicles Manipuri traditions with the arrival of the British in the late 18th century.
Informing that his presentation at the Oxford conference generated rave review from the gathering who expressed keen desire to have more comprehensive information about Manipuri art, literature and culture, Ratankumar also conveyed heartfelt gratitude to all concerned who extended help in his endeavour.
Vice Chancellor (acting) of Manipur University Prof HNK Sarma, Executive Member of Sahitya Academy New Delhi) Prof N Khagendra Singh, and Proctor/Dean of School of Humanities and Environmental Sciences (MU) Prof W Nabakumar graced the felicitation programme as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
