SF-UG clash at international border

Imphal, February 05, 2011:
Security forces engaged UGs in a gunfight at Ashang Khullen of Ukhrul district located in the international border with Myanmar in the early hours today.
There were no reports of any casualties.
The encounter took place when a joint team of 12 AR and 22 Para Troopers entered the village based on a tip-off of the presence of heavily armed cadres of an UG outfit at the village just near the international border.
The UGs initiated the firing around 6.30 am.
The exchange of fire lasted for about 30 minutes, a report said.
Meanwhile, in another counter insurgency operation at Lilong Kalikhong last night around 12.30 am, troops of 28 AR apprehended an activist of the UPRF (United People Revolutionary Front).
A country made 12 bore gun loaded with a live round was seized from the activist identified as Md Bogimayum Rahajuddin alias Raha (27) son of Md Samaruddin of Lilong Haoreibi Turel Ahanbi, a close associate of the chairman of the outfit, Md Rafi.
In yet another incident, two cadres of the proscribed Peoples� Liberation Army (PLA) were arrested from Sanasabi village on Friday following a massive manhunt launched by security forces.
An AK 56 rifle with ten live rounds were recovered from one of the cadres, an official source said.
The source also identified the two arrested persons as O Manglemba (32) son of Ibopisak of Thamnapokpi Sanasabi and W Sanajaoba aka Lambu (30) of Laipham Khunou.
