Seed Sowing Festival in Ukhrul

"Lui-Ngai-Ni"., the Naga Seed Sowing Festival will be organized at Hunphun (Ukhrul) on February 15 under the aegis of the United Naga Council with the theme "Sowing Seeds of Change"..
A statement of the Organizing Committee, signed by its convener Somimayar Awungshi said that the festival will be hosted by the Tangkhul Naga Long and graced by Keviletuo Kiewhuo, President Naga Hoho as the chief guest and Thangkhosei Haokip, President, Kuki Inpi Manipur as the guest of honour.
It also highlights the festival programme as ceremonial blessing of seeds, cultural regale and Lui-Ngai-Ni nite.
The cultural regale will present folk dances and songs, traditional games and sports, traditional musical instruments.
Troupes from the Chakhesang tribe and Kuki tribe invited to the festival will also make special cultural presentations in the festival.
There will also be exhibition cum sale of Handlooms, Arts & Crafts; Foods, Seeds and Seedlings, Audio visual productions and publication and indigenous musical instruments.
Traditional Fashion display and other performances will be staged during Lui-Ngai-Nite.
All official delegates of the Naga tribes will arrive on the afternoon of February 14 at the venue and register themselves following which there will be a welcome session piloted by the Local Organising Committee.
