Even as all the ten candidates who have submitted their nomination papers to contest for the seat of Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency in the 16th Lok Sabha election scheduled on April 9 were cleared in the scrutiny today, altogether five candidates have filed their nominations to contest for the seat of Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, which would go to poll on April 17 next month.
In the scrutiny of the nomination papers for the election to the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constitution conducted by the Returning Officer (RO) at the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal today, the candidatures of Prof Gangmumei Kamei of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Chungkhokai Doungel of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Kim Gangte of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), Lien Gangte of JD (U), Soso Lorho of Naga People's Front (NPF) and Khamchinpau Gangte of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were cleared along with that of Mani Charenamei, Amarson Sankhil and Lamlalmoi alias Momoi Gangte as Independent candidates.

Interestingly, Lamlalmoi Gangte had filed his nomination papers as the candidate of CPI (ML) but was cleared as an Independent candidate since he could not furnish the required clearance from the President of the party.
The last date for the withdrawal of their candidatures, if any, is March 26 .
Meanwhile, altogether five candidates have filed their nominations to contest the 16th Lok Sabha election for the seat of Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, which would go to poll on April 17 next month.
Sitting MP Dr T Meinya of Indian National Congress (INC), Dr RK Ranjan of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), Dr Moirangthem Nara of Communist Party of India (CPI) and independent candidate Oinam Indira submitted their nomination papers to the Returning Officer of Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency and Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West K Radhakumar at his Lamphelpat office here today.
Dr Gurumayum Tonsana Sharma of Manipur Democratic People's Front (MDPF) had earlier submitted his nomination papers and he is the first candidate to file nominations to contest for the Inner seat.
The last date for submission for nomination papers for Inner Manipur is March 26 till 4 pm.
Sarangthem Manaobi of Trinamool Congress (TMC), Dr Kh Ibomcha of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Oinam Jotin of Jai Maha Bharath Party are also preparing to submit their nomination papers for the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency.
INC candidate Dr T Meinya was accompanied by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam and other Congress leaders while submitting the nomination papers to the Returning Officer.
Asked which party would be the strongest rival for Congress in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls in the State, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi maintained that nothing could be said at the moment as the scrutiny of nomination papers is yet to be conducted.
President of BJP Manipur Pradesh Thounaojam Chaoba, who accompanied Dr RK Ranjan while submitting his nomination papers, told media persons that the BJP has full confidence of winning both Lok Sabha seats in the State.
CPI candidate M Nara said that there is no good governance in the State and in the country at large.
He is contesting the Lok Sabha election in order to revive people's trust and faith in the democracy.
Independent candidate Oinam Indira said that her election manifesto would be released soon.
She hopes to work for the welfare and development of women, especially in the area of legislation for the safeguard of women's rights.
Further, Indira said that her strongest rival would be the Congress candidate while the BJP candidate would be in the fourth position.
