According to the agitating lecturers, necessary proposal for extension was submitted on time but the Pay Implementation Cell of the Finance Department sent back the proposal in September this year with an office memo to the departments that no piecemeal proposals of that nature would be entertained and to submit all proposals at one go in October 2013 .
Meanwhile, Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has urged the concerned authority to bring a solution to the agitation of the contract lecturers so that the career of many students are not put at peril.
Speaking to reporters at its office located at Keishampat, DESAM secretary general, Arambam Thoithoi said the agitation of the contract lecturers could have a great impact on the performance of the students in the forth coming Board/Council exams as their syllabi are feared to be left uncovered.
As such, the students' body appealed the concerned authority to address the matter promptly so that the contractual lecturers resume their respective work.
Thoithoi further warned that DESAM would launch agitation if the concerned authority fails to address the matter promptly.
