Imphal, November 17 2019:
Amur Falcon, Chiulon, which was tagged with a satellite radio transmitter for the purpose of migratory route study, has passed Andhra Pradesh in its journey to South Africa.
A report from the Wild Life Institute of India maintained that Chiulon, after being tagged and released from Tamenglong district on November 12, halted for some time in Tripura before reaching Chilika Lake in Osidha on November 14.WII further stated Chiulon has crossed Andhra Pradesh and is flying above Godavari river.
However, Irang and Barak, which were also satellite tagged along with Chiulon, are still roaming around in Tamenglong district, added the WII report.
Meanwhile, no signals from Puching and Phalong Amur Falcons (which were satellite radio tagged on October 31 and November 1), have been received so far.
The report continued that the signal could have been hindered as a result of rainfall or cloudy weather conditions which might have obstructed the solar plates attached to their backs.
However, it confirmed that the two birds are still in Puching area.
It can be recalled that altogether five Amur Falcons were tagged with satellite radio transmitters this year.
