Maram Khullen bag Women's volleyball title at Dist Level Volley Tourney Championship

The Maram Khullen volleyball team were crowned the champions of the Women's Volleyball competition at the 1st District Level Volleyball Tournament organised by Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur (SDOAM) since November 14 last.
Maram Khullen defeated Kodom women's team in the final to claim the cash prize of Rs 30,000 in the 9 team tournament while the runners up had to contend with Rs 20,000.Maram Khullen women's team defeated the Khongdei Shimphung women's team to book the final berth while Kodom women's team reached the final by seeing off Shomai women's team.
The men's final match between Chowainamei Khunou and Khabung Karong was however stalled and will continue tomorrow at 10 am.
Both teams were lock at level terms winning two sets each, reports our correspondent.
Although the men's final match was inconclusive, the valedictory function of the tournament was held today and was graced by Losii Dikho, Minister, PHED, Printing & Stationery, Govt of Manipur as the chief guest and M Pradip Singh, IPS, SP, Senapati as the guest of honour respectively.
M Pradip Singh, IPS wished the SDOAM to continue organising such tournament in order to achieve excellence in the field of sports in the district.
Minister Dikho as the chief guest, stated that sports is a very vast industry adding the tournament encourages people of the region to participate and involve in the vast industry which has lots of opportunities.
The minister asserted that the Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur does not organise the tournament for fun or entertainment but with a vision and purpose, calling to choose sports as profession.
The SDOAM is giving a platform for sports lovers when there is privilege, he mentioned.
The minister also urged that one should not play sports just for namesake.
Hundreds and thousands of benefits from sports could be there if one truly loves sports, he said.
Out of leisure play, the minister urged the need to take sports as a profession to earn fame and money.
