Sit-in protest staged against increasing crimes and violence to women and children

Sit-in protest against the increasing crimes and violence to women and children in Manipur was staged by women folks at Pallel today.
In the sit-in jointly organized by Ching Tam Nupi Apunba Lup (China Lup) Pallel Area; All Tribal Women Organization (ATWO) Chandel and Tengnoupal; and Pallel Apunba Luchingbi Ima (Palem) Pallel, the women folks held playcards which read as "Stop crimes and violence against women and children", "We condemn the torture and abuse meted out to women", "We oppose killing of Babysana", "Deliver justice", "Stop intimidation of women activist".
Speaking to media persons, president ATWO who is also Secy of China Lup Pallel Area, Lalam Mate condemed the increasing cases of crime and violence against women and children, including rape and murder in the State.
She continued that swift action of the Govt agencies is required to crack such crimes and offences followed by exemplary punishment of the perpetrators to rein in the increasing rate of felony and assault in the State.
Regarding the suspicious death of Babysana, she said that the Govt must book the culprits involved at the earliest so that such cases should not be repeated in future.
She also strongly condemned the gun attack by some miscreants to the daughter of Human Rights Activist U Nobokishor and Women Activist Mangshatabam Sobita that occured on July 7 and 24."This act of intimidating a social activist is akin to arm-twisting against society and she and her family need protection", she added and wondered at the conduct of the authority concerned for failing to act against such perpetrators even though their identities have been revealed.
She urged the Govt to book the miscreants involved in the incident at the earliest so that the public have faith in the law of the land and to arrest the ever-increasing rate of crime in the State.
Bishnupur: Protests rally and sit-ins were staged in different parts of Bishnupur district against the suspicious death of Babysana in the boarding of Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School.
MAMPIL and KEMKAL staged the sit-in protest at Moirang market with the support of students from Moirang Multipurpose Hr Sec School; Moirang College; Konjeng Jr HS, and members of Moirang CD Block E-Rickshaw Dev Co-Op Society and later took out a protest rally from Moirang market and passed through Yumkhaibam to reach Kiyam Lambi and returned to Moirang market.
Keithel Chaokhat Lup and Lumlangdong Ima Keithel Development Committee Bishnupur also jointly organized sit-in protest at Bishnupur market while Kodompokpi Mamang Leikai Meira Paibi Lup also staged sit-in protest at Kodompokpi Mamang Leikai Community hall against the mysterious death of N Babysana.
Similar sit-ins were also staged by Gulap English School, Keniou at Keinou Thongkha Community hall.
Placards which read as "Little Thieves Are Hanged But Great Ones Escape", "We Want Justice", "Intelligence Weak and Dishonest, Injustice Anywhere is a Threat To Justice Everywhere" were used during the protest.
