AMSU hosts get together

A get together function in honour of all the newly elected students' unions of colleges and higher secondary schools in Manipur for the academic session 2010-11 was hosted by All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) at its headquarters office here today.
Additional Director of Education (U) Dr RK Yaiskul, president of AMSU Thokchom Suresh and general secretary of AMBA Advocate Y Priyokumar attended the function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Delivering the key note address, general secretary of AMSU Dipanjit Ningthoujam observed that colleges and other educational institutions in Manipur today are in critical situation on account of lack of abled student leaders.
Some students started abusing drugs while still in colleges.
To stop such menace, the get together is being organised to facilitate interaction of student leaders from various colleges and higher secondary educations, he said, and added that to become a leader, the elected student representatives in different colleges and other educational institutions need to left behind their ego and work together in unity and harmony.
Among the invitees who spoke at the occasion, advocate T Bheigyachandra Samufaba pointed out that quality of students in Manipur has been improving but not the quality of education.
Secretary of Nupi Samaj Th Ramani observed that students and more particular the girl students need to maintain their own status.
She also suggested that use of mobile among the students need to be stopped as misuse of mobile is becoming a bane in the society today.
