Thoubal firing intentional : RPF

Imphal, April 05 2011:
Security forces, particularly Assam Rifles have little respect for the right to life of the people and this was demonstrated most audaciously once again during the recent firing at Thoubal, asserted the proscribed RPF.
A press release issued by the outfit's assistant publicity secretary GM Changjou noted that the recent incident was not a case of collateral damage resulting from crossfire or retaliation to attacks by insurgents.
Troops of 15 Assam Rifles opened indiscriminate fire intentionally towards civilian areas of Thoubal Nongangkhong, Thoubal Mayai Leikai and Thoubal Bamon Leirak from atop Tomjing hills in the name of celebrating India's victory over Sri Lanka in the ICC Cricket World Cup .
On the other hand, the so called people's representatives have exposed themselves as stooges of the Assam Rifles and were taking active role in the sinister conspiracy of the security forces by remaining mute to the unwarranted firing by Assam Rifles.
It would not be correct for the so called people's representatives/leaders to remain mute and blind when the unwarranted firing had led to fatal casualty.
If the State forces were behind the firing, these representatives would have been crying hoarse to take up punitive action immediately.
In the meantime, the PRO of Hqs IG AR (S) was trying to condone their 'indiscipline force' by claiming that a burst was discharged accidentally.
It was nothing but an attempt to hoodwink the Manipuri people.
Asserting that the killing of Waikhom Mani Devi should be condemned by one and all, the RPF called upon the people and civil organisations to launch strong mass movements to drive out indiscipline security forces from civilian populated areas.
The outfit further conveyed solidarity to the bereaved family of Mani Devi as well as to all the families whose houses were damaged in the firing.
