Temporary market shed construction almost completed

The displaced vendors of Khwairamband Ima markets are likely to be shifted to the newly constructed temporary market by March 11 as 90 percent of the construction works has been completed at present.
Altogether, 4 contractors are taking up the construction of the temporary market shed at the western side of Johnstone Higher Secondary School.
Khwairamband Nupi Keithel Sinpham and Saktam Kanba Lup president Th Santi said the displaced vendors of the two Ima markets will shift into the new market as advised by astrologers who said that March 11 is auspicious for the occasion.

The total number of displaced women vendor is approximately 1950 .
The new market, given its large area will hopefully accommodate all the vendors, she added.
The new temporary market shed has been built upon a land measuring 525 feet length and 40 feet width.
The temporary market will have three different market sheds to accommodate maximum number of the misplaced vendors.
Moreover, there are two foot paths along each sides of the road measuring a width of 5 feet that could easily accommodate the vendors, Santi stated.
The market shed construction work is undertaken by PWD, an IMC official stated.
