Imphal, February 29 2016:
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has clarified that there is no case of service extension for retired Government officers although there are cases of re-engagement.
Ibobi made his clarification in response to a call attention motion raised by MLAs Th Shyamkumar and Kh Joykishan about extension of service period for retired officers.
He stated that the Government always try not to extend service period of retired officers as much as possible.
If there is sheer necessity, they are re-engaged without pension so as to avoid extra expenditure.
In response to another call attention motion raised by MLA L Ibomcha regarding expansion of Tiddim Road, Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar stated that development of road from Keishampat to Malom is almost complete.
Foot-paths are constructed on either side of the road at an elevated level as the level of the road would rise after every four/five years.
Dr Ratankumar, while noting the difficulties experienced by citizens in crossing the expanded road, informed the House that the Government has been considering to build foot-bridges at three different points.
