State Govt revokes suspension order

Barely four days after the State Government placed them under suspension, the State Government has reversed its stand and revoked the suspension order of the five policemen.
The five cops were placed under suspension after the Naga Students' Federation imposed a ban on the movement of all Meitei/Manipur vehicles in Naga inhabited areas from February 24 morning.
The five cops whose suspension order has been revoked are SI Md Imtiyaz Rahaman of Tamenglong police and presently attached with Imphal East police commandos, Havildar Gunachandra Singh of 5 MR and presently attached with Imphal East police commandos, W Jiten Singh of 1st MR and presently attached with Imphal East commandos, O Bishwanath Singh of 1st IRB and presently attached with Imphal East police commandos and N Surchandrajit of Imphal East police and presently attached with Imphal East police commandos.
The NSF had accused the five cops of harassing them on February 14 at Mantripukhri while they were on their way to Ukhrul to attend the Lui-Ngai-Ni festival.
To mount pressure on the State Government and take action against the policemen, the student body had imposed a ban on the movement of all vehicles belonging to Meiteis/Manipur from February 24 morning.
A number of vehicles were stranded at different points of NH-2 .
The decision of the State Government to suspend the five cops had come under severe criticisms from the BJP and former DGP of State police, Y Joykumar.
The Indigenous People's Association of Kangleipak (IPAK) had also criticised the decision of the Government to suspend the five policemen.
