Imphal, November 25 2009:
In line with notification issued today by the Election Commission of India (ECI) in New Delhi, the state election authority has also issued notification for the bye-election to the 14-Yaiskul Assembly Constituency.
The notification issued under section 31 of the Representation of People's Act 1951, read with Rule 3 of the Conduct of Election Rules, 1961, the polling will be held on December 19 (Saturday) from 7 am till 3 pm.
The notification issued by the RO, Yumnam Robita, Returning Officer, 14-Yaiskul Assembly Constituency stated that nomination papers may be delivered by a candidate or any of his proposers to the RO at the office hour or to O Randhoni, SDC (Hq)/assistant RO of 14-Yaiskul A/C at the office of the Sub-Division Officer/Returning Officer, Porompat Imphal East between 11 am to 3 pm on any day (other than Public Holiday) not later than December 2, 2009 (Wednesday).
Wiling candidates can also collect nomination paper from the RO office and scrutiny at 11 am on December 3 at the office of the SDO/RO office, Porompat, Imphal east.
Nomination paper can be withdrawn till 3 pm of December 5, the notification added.
In the ensuing bye-election photo electoral rolls published on January 2009 and continuing updated electoral rolls with qualifying date January 1, 2009 will be used, an official source said.
The source added that as far as practicable, every effort will be made to utilize maximum number of government vehicles for the polling parties and security escort of observers.
DC, Imphal East in consultation with SP, Imphal East and SDO/RO, Porompat will work out the total requirement of vehicles of all type and the demand for government vehicles will be placed to the transport department well in time under the intimation of the CEO.
