No polio in Tamenglong any more: Dr Namjupou

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has announced that there is no polio disease in the world today.
Although India has not been able to announce the same till date, one can be sure that there is no polio case in Tamenglong district anymore, Dr Namjupou, District Immunization Officer, Tamenglong, has proclaimed.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao on the sidelines of launching 2nd round of Integrated Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) campaign in Tamenglong today, Dr.Namjupou said that he has collected data from all the villages' chairmen of the district and could not find any polio cases.
In Nungba subdivision, there are cases of paralysis, but they are not related to polio.
On further query, Dr.Namjupou pointed out that 15 years ago, one polio case was found in Tamei sub-division.
After that, no new cases have been found in the district.
"Nonetheless, I have fanned out ASHAs, Nurses, NGO and volunteers to open 290 booths to give pulse polio vaccination drops to all children below five years.
In the last campaign held in January this year, as many as 16419 children were given pulse polio drops", he informed.
13 AR also opened one pulse polio booth near Mini Stadium Tamenglong today.
The 2nd round of Pulse Polio Immunisation Campaign would continue till February 26 .
