Imphal, February 24 2013 :
The proscribed UNLF has alleged that the Government of India has been manipulating media to mislead the general public.
The recent report as published in Guwahati based TV channels DY-365, NE TV etc and an Assamese daily Asomia Protidin that UNLF Chairman Sana Yaima alias Meghen has begun 'peace talks' with representatives of India Government through video conference from Dispur was totally baseless, mischievous and misleading.
The Chairman and 14 other cadres were taken to the video conference studio located at Dispur Secretariat complex as the NIA produced two protest witnesses in a Court at Delhi citing security reasons.
Statements of the witnesses were taken through video conference, conveyed a press release issued by the outfit's Senior Publicity Officer Ksh Yoiheiba.
Reiterating that it Chairman and cadres are freedom fighters, and cannot be tried under any Indian law court as UNLF is fighting to regain the right to national self determination of the Manipuri people which India allegedly usurped.
Saying that all NIA courts are stage managed by the Government of India, the outfit demanded those TV channels and newspapers which wrongly informed the public besides creating confusion among the people of Manipur should make an apology in the larger interest of media fraternity.
