AR organises community service and security meet

With an aim to interact with the local populace as well as sensitise them in regards to existing security situation in the area, Mantripukhri and Tulihal Battalions of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) organised community service and security meet, today.
A press release issued by IGAR (S) said that the community service cum interaction was organised by Yangangpokpi Company Operating Base (COB) of Mantripukhari Battalion at Catholic Church Muirei village in Ukhrul district.
The interaction was aimed to familiarise and orient troops of the Company Operating Base with the locals as well as identify with their local customs and traditions, it said, adding that the event commenced with offering of prayers followed by an interaction with the villagers.
It also said that the interaction proved to be of immense significance as over 125 villagers willingly shared their various issues of concern.
Meanwhile, as part of the security meet conducted by Tulihal Company Operating Base (COB) of Tulihal Battalion, locals were updated on current situation existing in the area of responsibility.
An interaction was also carried out about necessary measures required to be taken up for maintaining a strict vigil against illicit activities in the area and future action plan in respect of civic action projects among others, it said and continued that the attendees were also sensitised regarding the ill effects of drugs among the youth and to guide them to lead a healthy and prosperous life.
The security forum was attended by the ward Councillors, Pradhans, Youth Club members and representative.
The locals expressed their gratitude and appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles for conducting the meeting and ensuring peace in the area and assured their commitment and assistance in maintaining the same.
