Imphal, October 20 2019:
The Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has cautioned the Manipur University authority to strictly follow the prescribed UGC guidelines in recruiting various teaching posts of the varsity.
Alleging that the varsity is 'bending' UGC rules in the recruitment processes of various teaching posts, DESAM claimed that the varsity in its notification dated September 19 has exempted intending candidates, who had applied for the posts in 2013, from updating their application in the required new format.
The new notification has violated the UGC RR 2018 which the varsity should follow, said DESAM in a statement today.
Manipur University had issued a recruitment notice on May 27 for various teaching posts.
Candidates who had applied for various teaching posts in 2013 were exempted from applying afresh, but were supposed to update their application form in the new format, said DESAM.
"According to the Gazette of India, Part-III Section 4 2016, it is directed that candidates who had completed PhD before 2009 should submit Compliance Certificate for the post of Asst Professor.
And Manipur University also on May 27, 2019 had notified that application for post of Assistant Professor requires Compliance Certificate (for PhD candidates).
We are afraid that the varsity is going to include candidates without Compliance Certificate in the ongoing screening process," said DESAM.
DESAM had submitted an application to the Registrar on October 9 to correct the discrepancies/irregularities.
So far there has been no reply and action regarding the matter, it said urging the MU authority to follow the UGC prescribed rules in the recruitment process and exclude all candidates who have not updated their application in the new format.
