Sub District level meeting held at Thoubal

Thoubal, December 30 2020:
A sub district level meeting for Thoubal subdivision under Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign, Thoubal was held at the office of the Sub Divisional Officer Thoubal, today.
The meeting was held under the aegis of the Sub Divisional Officer Thoubal, said a statement of the DLC on Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign (NMBCC), Thoubal.
It was attended by 12 members from different Government Departments, Block Level Committee, Thoubal and representatives of ITCAs.
In the meeting, Sub Divisional Officer Thoubal urged all the members to extend full cooperation and coordination to eradicate drug abuse from society as the task can't be performed successfully by a single individual or Department.
He also emphasized that imparting knowledge about the ill effects of drugs in the classrooms at school level will benefit society in the future.
SDPO Thoubal assured the gathering to extend full cooperation to NMBCC, Thoubal in any form of antidrug campaign in the future.
In the meeting, District Social Welfare Officer, A Kameshwar Singh briefed about the Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign Committee and its various activities and achievements in Thoubal district.
He expressed the need for awareness among the youth and teenagers along with their parents to prevent drug abuse by the youths and also to refer to the IRCAs working in the district for treatment of youths using drugs.
He further urged the members of the Block level Committee to initiate awareness at the Block level in order to curb the ill effects of drugs at Thoubal Block.
Ex DPO Thoubal, N Shyama Devi talked on the big difference in lifestyle, work culture and relationship between parents and children today and that of the past.
Such differences paved the way for youngsters to fall into drugs, she added.
K Lokendro, NYKS also expressed his concern over the grave situation, where it is very difficult to find a single family whose members are not taking any form of drug.
W Kamleshkumar, Senior Counsellor, Health Care Centre, Pakhangkhong urged the youth to know the value of life and the importance of parenting in the prevention of drug abuse.
A Rebika Devi, Deputy Inspector of ZEO Thoubal stressed on the need to include drug related chapter in the school syllabus.
As a short term policy, the ZEO office can organise essay writing, debate and painting competitions related to drug abuse to educate the students, she added.
