Imphal, March 30 2012:
A labourer sustained injuries when he was stabbed by an individual at Takyel under Lamphel police station in Imphal West district last night.
According to sources, Yumnam Sanamacha of Heinoubok stabbed Konsam Ibochouba (48) of Takyel Kolom Leikai near Takyel Primary School at about 11 last night.
While Ibochouba is undergoing treatment at RIMS in critical condition, Sanamacha has surrendered to Lamphel Police.
It is reported that Sanamacha also attempted to stab Ibochouba's brother-in-law Moirangthem Debo (33) of Takyel Kolom Leikai at the latter's shop at Patsoi yesterday afternoon.
To bring about a settlement and compromise on some matter, a meeting was held at Debo's residence between the elders of the two families.
After the meeting, Sanamacha came across Ibochouba on his way home.
He stabbed Ibochouba on the way and fled.
Enraged with the assault, a group of people belonging to Takyel Kolom Leikai demolished Sanamacha's house last night itself.
Before this year's Yaoshang festival, Debo, Ibochouba and Sanamacha were working together under a head mason at Khumbong.
After that, Debo took to shop-keeping.
It is suspected that disagreement over financial matters was one of the factors for the assault.
