Thoubal commandos rescue girl

With the arrest of two cadres of the proscribed PREPAK from near Wangjing YK college gate on March 29, Thoubal district police commandos have rescued a young girl from being recruited in the armed organisation, claimed a statement issued by SP (Thoubal) .
Identifying the arrested PREPAK duo as Khundrakpam Toro alias Mitlou Singh (30) s/o Kh Lukhoi Singh of Heirok Part-II Thokchom Leikai and Ngangom Ranjit Singh (30) s/o Ng Naba Singh of Yairipok Yambem Mathak Leikai, the SP conveyed that on preliminary interrogation the arrested persons disclosed of abducting one Laishram Thoibi alias Ibemcha Devi (21) d/o L Rukay Singh of Heirok.
Further informing that the PREPAK cadres were rounded up while moving in a Maruti Van (MN01X/3554) with the abducted girl, the police statement said Thoibi was supposed to be handed over to one S/S Laishram Jayantabi alias Nongpoknganba at Moreh as a new woman recruit of the outfit, which however did not materialise with the arrest of the two.
Another commando team of the district in joint operation with troops of 22 Grenadiers reportedly arrested another PREPAK cadre from Elangkhangpokpi Awang Leikai at around 3.45 pm yesterday.
Two Chinese hand-grenades and one mobile handset with four sim cards have been listed as items recovered from the PREPAK cadre identified as Kangabam Kumarjit alias Nanao alias Ngamba alias Ibomcha Singh (26) s/o K Mani Singh of Elangkhangpokpi Awang Leikai Lai Mamang.
On the otherhand, a PRO IGAR (S) release, informed about arrest of one UNLF cadre namely (No.2071) Umakanta Sharma alias Bdomba (30) s/o (L) shanti-kumar of Uripok Bachaspati Maning Leikai on March 29 from the said locality.
along with one 9 mm pistol and magazine with a live round, Umakanta, who was apprehended by a troops of 17 and 42 Assam Rifles, has been handed over Kakching police station, the release added.
Meanwhile, an arms dealer identified as Lunjang Guite (45) s/o (L) Dilam Guite has been arrested by troops of 10 and 46 Assam Rifles of Red Shield Division from Vellam Veng of Churachandpur district.
Lunjang, from whom two .32 pistols, one Colt auto 9 mm, three .32 pistol magazines and one 9 mm pistol magazine with four live rounds were recovered, has been handed over to Imphal West police station, informed a PIB (DW) .
