Kohima, January 29 2016 :
Advisor to Nagaland Chief Minister for Urban Development, S I Jamir today said the eight Congress legislators of the state assembly decided to merge with NPF considering all aspects of Naga Political Issue (NPI) .
"In politics anything may happen anytime having served a particular party (Congress), including being the President through the best part of life, it was not a very easy decision (to join NPF), but considering all the aspects of NPI, we decided to merge with NPF," Jamir said.
He was addressing the first Central Executive Council (CEC) Meeting of Naga People's Front (NPF) today after the 8 Congress MLA merged with the party on Nov 20 last.
"We decided to merge on political grounds," he said, adding that "when there was a problem within the NPF, we (Congress legislators) were approached to support a particular group and we extended our support and decided to stand by it." He said in every election, the first manifesto for each party is solution of Naga political problem and it still stands valid.
The Naga political problem is above all the political constraints and "we look forward that through this union, solution will be quickened to some extent," he said.
Expressing that the NPF government has two more years to go before the next assembly elections, he said for the ruling party anti-incumbency factor is the main enemy.
