Mathematics competition at Ukhrul

Ukhrul, October 28 2013:
The first district level Mathematics competition was held at Ukhrul Higher Secondary School, Ukhrul which was jointly organised by Longyo Welfare Development Society (LWDS) and District Administration, Ukhrul.
Students from classes V- VIII from the three blocks of the district Ukhrul, Kamjong and Chingai took part in the competition.
However, students turnout from Govt School was very low.
Khanreichan Luithui of Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School (SHHSS) got the first position in class VIII while Yuimi Shaiza and Worchanphi stood second and third respectively.
In Class VII category, Chonmihor Huiling of Savio School, Zingya of KVS and Rinsemla of SHHSS were declared the first, second and third position winner respectively.
In class VI category, Worshin Shimrah stood first while Mark Theimi Konghar and Chipui Keishing shared the second prize and Mashunmung Shaiza was the third position winner.
Star Zimik of SHHSS snatched the first prize in the Class V category while Tacham Lungleng and Khavangpam Marchang won the 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively.
Altogether 387 students from the district participated in the Mathematics competition.
Worshim of SHHSS scored the highest marks among all the competitors.
Speaking to media persons, convenor of LWDS Hopkinson Chiphang said the mathematics competition was conducted in a free and fair manner.
He also said that the competition would be opened to students of IX and X from next year.
