Pherzawl, December 16 2016:
The Hmar Students' Association, general headquarters, submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister today praying for speedy materialisation of all the infrastructural and developmental necessities of Pherzawl district and inclusion of Hmar villages in Jiribam district to Pherzawl.
Hmar Students' Association, while expressing gratitude to the Government for the creation of Pherzawl district said it is the expectation of the Hmar Students' Association, that the Hmar populace of Pherzawl district will witness the much needed development and progress and the fulfilment of all infrastructure needs as befitting a new district.
The HSA, in the memorandum, assured to extend full cooperation to the State Government in all its endeavour for the betterment of the Hmar people in Pherzawl district.
"The HSA is overwhelmed with joy knowing that the Hmar people are indeed heading towards a better tomorrow", the HSA said.
The HSA memorandum further asserted that the impracticality of associating Hmar people with Jiribam district whose structure is not designed for hill people would lead to immense hardship for the underprivileged Hmar villagers.
It further appealed to the Chief Minister to include the 13 Hmar villages namely, Joironpokpi village, Muolzawl village, Soma Punjee village (Gilgal), Tuisuolien village (Kaia Punjee), B Huonveng village, Buthangkhal village, Bekarasuo village (Kaisel Punjee), Dolakhal village (Zamkham Punji), Kotoikhal village (Thangboi Punjee), Chowdhurikhal village (Choudhurykhal), Mongbung village, Sejang village and Leisabithol village in Pherzawl district.
The Hmar villagers, it said, would feel more secure in Pherzawl district than in Jiribam.
