Imphal, December 16 2016:
The long standing issue of the lack of a regular Director at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) may be coming to an end, according to reliable sources.
According to the sources and as confirmed by RIMS authorities, there is a high probability that a regular Director may be appointed for RIMS before the State Legislative Assembly poll begins thereby putting an end to the issue of appointing in-charge Directors after Prof Sekhajit vacated the post.
Since the BJP aims to sweep the polls in the coming Assembly polls, there are plans to take up various developmental works and projects and to complete pending ones as soon as possible, the sources added.
There has been increasing pressure from the Ministry of Health and Public Welfare officials on RIMS authorities to resolve the Court cases by some doctors for a regular Director as soon as possible.
Even if the cases are not resolved before the polls, DPC for selecting a regular director for RIMS would still be held, they added.
