Imphal, December 16 2016:
Stating that all disagreements and contentious issues should be resolved through dialogue, the United Committee Manipur (UCM) has asserted that violence would not bring any positive outcome.
A team of UCM today donated relief materials to the people who have been taking shelter at Iramsiphai Mamang Leikai community hall after violent confrontation broke out between two neighbouring villages at Lilong Nungei a few days back.
The team donated several edible items including rice, cooking oil, common salt, potato etc to the relief camp where more than 250 people have been taking shelter.

After listening to detail accounts about confrontation as narrated by some people who have been taking shelter at the camp, UCM president Elangbam Johnson said that UCM would organise a joint meeting of the two neighbouring villages.
Raking past hatred and reviving earlier confrontation with malicious intention of taking vengeance was rather unfortunate, he remarked.
Even if there were serious disagreements, all contentious issues could have been resolved through dialogue before engaging in violent confrontation.
Recalling that the confrontation which broke out between two neighbouring villages earlier was resolved at the Chief Minister's table, Johnson questioned how far the two villages have reconciled.
While appealing to the two neighbouring villages to maintain calm and sanity, he urged the Government to resolve the issue at the earliest.
The UCM team also made an assessment of the houses set ablaze at Lilong Nungei Makha Leikai and Awang Leikai.
They also saw a large number of security forces deployed at Nungei and surrounding areas following the violent confrontation.
