Imphal, August 02 2009:
Parents' association of the Slopeland Public School has appealed to both the JAC (constituted in connection with the death of the school's student Gurumayum Chittaranjan) and the school authority to bring a solution to the present impasse before August 5 .
A meeting of the parents' association held today at the school decided to reopen the school from August 6 in case the JAC and the school authority could not strike an agreement by August 5 .
The meeting agreed that all parents/guardians would share the pain and grief of Chittaranjan's family on his shradha day tomorrow.
The parents/guardians also observed one minute silence in honour of the departed soul of Chittaranjan.
Many speakers addressing the function observed that closure of school and jeopardising career of thousands of students was not the right way to protest the controversial death.
They suggested erection of a memorial tomb within the school campus and to institute a meritorious award for students of the school in the name of G Chittaranjan.
