Imphal, January 22 2014 :
Referring to the news report published in this paper's Jan 22 issue under the headline, 'Anomalies detected in Police recruitment: Govt overrides police Hqs plea,' the IGP (Adm), C Doungel has clarified that the role of the Recruitment Cell, Phqs regarding complaints made in connection with recruitment is to serve as a conduit or means of communication between the complainant and Chairman of the Recruitment DPC.
The complaints, usually made through the Govt or the Courts are forwarded to the Chairman of the concerned Recruitment DPC asking to submit a detailed report or para wise comments with supporting documents as early as possible.
The PHQ Recruitment Cell just "forwards" the report of the DPC Chairman without making any addition, comments or observations to the Govt, the IGP (Adm), C Doungel said in a statement.
Likewise, in the present case of complains regarding direct recruitment of SI/Jem 2010, the letter was addressed to the CS with a copy marked to the DGP, Manipur which was forwarded to the Chairman of the DPC soliciting para wise comments.
The Chairman submitted his parawise comments along with enclosures and the report with enclosures was forwarded to the Govt, the IG said.
The IG further mentioned that the Chairman of DPC for direct recruitment of SI/Jem 2010 is P Doungel, ADGP (Prisons) & I/c Director, MPTC.
Editor's note : Other than the name of the Chairman of the DPC, we stand by our report.
