The All Tribal Students Union Manipur (ATSUM) has urged the Social Welfare Department, Government of Manipur to clarify the position of the Metric Tons of rice allocated for the districts of Imphal West, Chandel and Senapati, under the Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of Adolescent Girl-Sabla (RGSEAG-SABLA).
As per the letter number F No 6-1/2013-RGSEAG, Government of India, Ministry of Women and Child Development, 858 Matrict tons (8580 Quintals) of rice were allocated for the three districts during the second and third quarter of 2013-2014.However, when enquired in some parts of the Anganwadi centres in these districts, 65kgs, 50 kgs and 75 kgs of rice were allocated for Chandel, Senapati and Imphal West.
According to the statement issued by Micah Kamei, Information and Publicity Secy, ATSUM, the union will take up required steps to bring justice in case the Social Welfare Department fails to respond.
