Artisans display crafts at Khadi Mela

Artisans from across the State are displaying variety of aesthetic handicraft and handloom items on display at "Khadi Mela 2019" which is underway at the premises of Manipur Khadi & Village Industries Board (MKVIB), Lamphelpat.
At the mela which is organised by Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) and MKVIB, several artisans and beneficiaries of Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMGEP) are selling their unique products in altogether 56 stalls.
Apart from handicraft and handloom items, several edible items which are beneficial to the health like medicinal plants and honey are also sold at the mela.
Speaking to journalists, Vice Chairman of MKVIB, Y Nilamani said that the such mela is being organised in the State for the first time to spread awareness about the many schemes implemented under PMGEP.
It also aims to provide the required exposure to the beneficiaries of PMGEP so that they can become and independent artisans in future, he said and appealed all to visit the mela.
