3rd Annual Tangkhul Meet in Chennai

Tangkhul Katamnao Long (TKL) Chennai celebrated its 3rd Annual Tangkhul Meet cum Freshers' Day on August 11. The occasion was graced by KBhuvaneswari, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Kilpauk, Chennai as chief guest, Kim Choel Ho, Executive Director of K&K Contect Engineering Pvt Ltd and Ramayon Keishing, elder Tangkhul member as guests of honour.
According to a statement issued by Varekan Keishing, president of TKL Chennai, the students' body apprised K Bhuvaneswari about certain issues North-East students are facing like physical assault cases, sexual harassment, cheating by job agents, molestation/harassment from house owner,employers, exploitation and less attention from police department when approached with certain issues.
The Chief Guest in her addressed to the students, promised that, police department is there for safety and protection.
She advised students to approach with issues to the police official of higher rank so that speedy action can be taken.
Around 1000 students/elders gathered for the event.
This year nearly 50 Tangkhul freshers came to Chennai.
Performance by special guest Akui Mashangva, cultural dance and cultural show by students marked the occasion.
Makaosi and Peacenao were crowned 3rd Mr and Miss Freshers respectively.
