Awareness programme / prize distribution function held at Phoudel, Tbl

Expressing concerned about the deep impact of drug related problem in the State, MLA Wangkhem AC Keisham Meghachandra, while attending a one day public awareness programme on drugs cum prize distribution function of painting competition at Phoudel community hall as chief guest, said that the role of club in each locality is crucial in dealing with drug related problem in the State.
In the programme organized by Phoudel Youth Club, the MLA further said that the problem of drug menace can be tackled by the club of each locality with the help of law enforcement agency while adding that the problem of drug menace is huge in Manipur largely due to sharing of international border with Myanmar ably aided by the presence of drug lords who can spent crores to procure the contraband products from across the border.
He appealed all to be careful about their life and stay away from such harmful products so that Manipur can stay healthy in other global competition.
Meanwhile, as part of the programme, winners of the ''1st District level and Yairipok circle painting competition 2019'' held on September 15 were also honoured with prizes.
The competition was held in two categories viz Category A' (Class I to IV) and Category B (Class V to VIII) on the theme ''Save our planet'' and ''Communal harmony and diversity'' respectively.
Khundrakpam Puni of Ananda Purna School, Thoubal bagged the 1st position in Category A while Shamandram Romika and Yambem Kritina of Nawa Sindam Sang, Kshetri Leikai secured the 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
Wheares in Category B, Laishram Shrinivash of Ruda Academy Thoubal secured the 1st position while Paliya Laishram of Ananda Purna School settled at 2nd position and MM Askar Ali of Bright Foundation Thoubal finished at 3rd position.
Today's programme was attended by Major Oinam Suraj of 26 AR Yairipok as functional president and Yairipok PS OC Md Riyajuddin Shah, United College Chandel Associate Prof Md Sherkhan and social activist Md Sirajuddin alias Khamba as guests of honour.
