Imphal, September 22 2019:
Congress Working Committee (CWC) member and MPCC president Gaikhangam has categorically asserted that Congress party will never accept BJP's 'one Nation, one language' ideology nor any form of imposition.
A block level interaction programme of Congress workers was held today at the Wangoi Thounaojam Leikai residence of MPCC vice-president S Achouba under the aegis of Wangoi BCC.
Speaking to media persons by the sideline of the interaction programme, Gaikhangam remarked that BJP's 'one Nation, one language' ideology is a serious threat to the country's principle of secularism.
The very ideology is anti-Constitutional.
Any Government should uphold the Constitution and all the citizens should be allowed to speak any language of their choice.
If BJP is determined to impose a single language throughout the country at the cost of all other languages, then the party is determined to disintegrate India, Gaikhangam said.
The Congress party will not remain silent to the aggressive and oppressive policies being followed by BJP against minorities.
BJP is a party which is anti-constitutional, anti-minority and anti-democracy, he remarked.
On being enquired about the Framework Agreement, the CWC member said that Congress supports any solution to the political dialogue provided the solution does not impinge upon the interests of other Northeastern States.
As the contents of the Framework Agreement are still kept a closely guarded secret, people have a misgiving about the nature of solution being negotiated between New Delhi and NSCN-IM, he said.
Talking about Citizenship Amendment Bill, Gaikhangam said that Congress party's position on the Bill is very clear.
If the CAB is passed and enacted as a law, it would have adverse impacts on all the Northeastern States.
CAB which seems to be driven by an evil intention to obliterate and erase identities of all indigenous peoples of the region is unacceptable to Congress party.
"I have already warned at a meeting of the AICC that if CAB is passed, Manipur will burn literally", Gaikhangam continued.
Speaking at the interaction programme, the MPCC president claimed that the series of interaction programmes being organised by Congress party at block level is aimed at ensuring 45 Assembly seats of the total 60 seats of the State are won by the party in the next State Assembly election which is due in 2022.He then called upon the gathering to start preparations for the Assembly election from today itself while adding that strengthening Congress party should begin at the grassroots level.
The BJP-led coalition Government has been doing nothing for the welfare of people rather they are busy fight amongst themselves.
People have nothing to expect from the incumbent Government, Gaikhangam asserted.
BJP has been speaking in such a manner that what Congress party did in 15 years are done by them, Gaikhangam remarked.
He went on to allege that the BJP-led Government has neither vision nor any objective.
It is BJP MLAs who have been openly demanding replacement of Chief Minister N Biren on the ground that he is incompetent for the post, Gaikhangam remarked claiming that the BJP-led Government would collapse under its own weight.
MPCC vice-president S Achouba and many other Congress leaders too spoke at the interaction programme.
