Four 'dupe' parents of over Rs 5 lakh on pretext of providing school admissions

On pretext of providing children admissions at Jawah Navodaya Vidyalaya, four persons have duped parents of over Rs 5 lakh, alleged Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) Sunday.
Speaking to media persons at its office at Kwakeithel bazar, its education secretary, Suraj Thokchom alleged that the persons identified as Koijam Ranjit, s/o K Jugindro Singh of Kakching Chumnang Leikai, Sanahal of Lilong Turel Ahanbi, Loitongbam Kiran Singh of Wangoo Tera Awang Leikai and Naorem Mangijao Singh of Naorem Makha Leikai duped some parents of Rs 5,54,000 recently on pretext of admitting their wards at JNV Bishnupur.

Parents of 7 students from Leimram were duped of Rs 1,69,000 while parents of 13 students from Utlou and 7 from Ibok were duped of Rs 2,45,000 and Rs 1,40,000 respectively, he said.
AIMS investigated the matter after it received complaints.
The accused were identified after AIMS volunteers got hold of K Ranjit.
The remaining three are in hiding, Suraj said cautioning them to surrender before AIMS within 5 days.
There may be other parents who have not yet reported the scam, he added.
