Imphal, July 17 2009:
Through an ultimatum submitted to the Chief Minister through Senapati DC, the Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) has urged upon the State Government to initiate necessary action for improving/developing NH 39 with immediate effect.
The ultimatum mentioned that the repeated appeals of the Mao Students' Union (MSU), Maram Students' Union (MKS) and the Poumai Students' Union (PTM) for repairing and developing NH 39 have fallen into deaf ears.
The failure of the authority concerned to pay any heed to the call of the BRO to halt telecom cable laying work along NH 39 has worsened the matter, the SDSA observed.
It decried that nothing has come out of innumerable agreements and MoUs signed between the State Government and the SDSA.
It particularly cited the MoUs signed on May 26 at Imphal and November 24 at Senapati district Hqs last year.
Failure to initiate necessary steps to repair and develop the pathetic condition of NH 39 immediately would compel the SDSA to launch various forms of democratic agitation in collaboration with the general public, it cautioned.
