New Delhi, July 17 2009:
The Delhi High Court today rejected the bail plea by a sitting Manipur MLA, who faces charges of involvement in unlawful activities, on the ground of illness.
"The nature of allegations which are levelled against the petitioner in the chargesheet are very serious in nature in the sense that he has been acting against the natural interest," said Justice V K Shali and dismissed the bail plea of Thounaojam Shyamkumar Singh.
Singh, along with two others, was arrested in 2006 for allegedly helping two Manipur terrorists, providing them shelter and giving logistics to them.
In March 2007, he was on interim bail and kept extending the same on health ground till February this year.
However, the High Court cancelled his bail on the ground that he failed to appear before the trial court in February.
